MEMORIAL ART

Barre, Vermont is renowned not only for its superb quality gray granite but for the incredibly talented artisans that shape the raw material into artwork that is proven to last lifetimes. In my daily practice and throughout my career as a memorial carver I have felt fortunate to craft work that represents generations of families honoring their relatives.

The carvings shown were created on commission within the granite memorial industry. Usually ordered through a memorial retailer or manufacturer, they are specifically designed to have hand carved elements. It is a long process that can take months, sometimes years, to complete. The time I spend sculpting the carving elements alone can take weeks to months depending on the complexity of design. Art that lasts forever shouldn't be rushed.
